Keeping the activities enjoyable will help lead to a positive lifestyle and improved memory function.
How Do You Encourage New Residents To Participate?
When moving into a new community, seniors can feel shy or overwhelmed about the idea of joining and interacting with numerous residents. The Mansions at Sandy Springs Senior Independent Living hosts many happy hours each month, providing opportunities to socialize. In addition, family members and friends are also welcome to follow the community Facebook and Instagram to see what events are planned to help encourage the new resident to join. Suggestions and new ideas for new activities or events that suit their interests are always welcome.
Additionally, all the residents are always open to meeting other fellow seniors and making friends. If a new resident wants to start small, the retirement community offers small crafting, puzzle, and fitness sessions. Every resident is free to participate at their own pace and as much and as little as they enjoy.
Planning For The Month
Creating an activity calendar for an entire month is not an easy job. At The Mansions at Sandy Springs Senior Independent Living, Aimee often incorporates food and holidays into her plans. With 5+ years of experience under her belt, she has a substantial file to refer to, full of past senior activities.
An outline of what Aimee likes to incorporate into each month: one special food treat a week, picnic or tour outing, restaurant lunches/dinners, movie theatre trips, weekly happy hours, and educational presentations on healthcare or topics of interest. Having a wide variety of activities makes every month in the senior living community unique.
What Do Seniors Do When Bored?

How Do You Entertain Seniors During Downtimes?
When there are no events planned, The Mansions at Sandy Springs Senior Independent Living continues to provide fun past-times. In addition to active-running events, there is a large touch screen computer from iN2L that is available 24/7. It has numerous programs including but not limited to: games, travel videos, old movies, music, spiritual inspiration, art programs, and exercises.
